Turkey Pinwheels with Dill Cream Cheese

Gluten Free Pinwheel

Before celiac disease, whenever there was a party, I would head to BJ’s and pick up a pack of pinwheels sandwiches. I loved those things. All you had to do was thaw and serve. So yummy. They weren’t just awesome at parties. I’d take them in my lunch, snack on them during the week. So good.

Since going gluten free, the thaw and serve appetizer options are limited and no one sells premade gluten free pinwheels. Luckily they aren’t hard to make. Just a little time. I have not tried freezing them, but they do refrigerate well so you could definitely make these Gluten Free Turkey & Dill Pinwheel Appetizers ahead.

Dill Cream Cheese Spread

These are so easy to make. I don’t know why I didn’t start sooner. The dill cream cheese spread was inspired by my dill dip recipe (which you can get here and is soooooo good!).

Basically, it’s just 3 ingredients- cream cheese, lots of fresh dill, and onion salt. Why do I use onion salt? Because I’m a lazy cook. You can totally use a little onion powder and regular salt, but it does need some salt. The salt gives it that “umami” flavor. (yes- I did just use a fancy food word!)

I add slices of turkey (2 per roll seems to work, you want a nice balance) and roll it all up into a gluten free wrap. Feel free to mix it up. A bit of roast beef would be great, or some spinach if you want to add some veggies.

There are a couple of gluten free wrap brands out there. The two I use the most are Tofuyan and Bfree. They sell the BFree wraps on Amazon, but I find both of them at Publix and they roll well without to much breakage.

I’m sure you are going to love these easy gluten free pinwheel appetizers as much as I do. What is your favorite thing to put on a sandwich?
